Human: Origins remain a mystery, but one place to consider is the convent of St. Magdalene in Zahrazany, Most.\r\nA Madonna is an image representing Mary alone or with her child Jesus. These images serve as central icons for both Catholic and Orthodox churches. The term comes from Italian, "ma donna," meaning "my lady." In Christian iconography, the Madonna and Child type is very common, divided into many traditional subtypes, especially in Eastern Orthodox iconography. Many types are known by location or posture.\r\nLocated in Prague's Old Town, the Convent of Saint Agnes of Bohemia (Klášter svaté Anežky České) sits on "Na Františku" street. Founded in 1231 by Princess Agnes, a sister of King Wenceslas I, she became its first abbess. Five nuns from Italian Assisi and seven Bohemian noble-girls arrived at the convent in autumn 1233. They belonged to the Poor Clares, founded on Franciscan principles in 1212 by Saints Clare of Assisi and Francis of Assisi. This was the first north-of-the-Alps convent of the Order of Poor Clares.
