That model was arguably the most pivotal in my entire competition, despite its rough-around-the-edges appearance. As usual, it's a model I employed for a lighting design project, specifically the high-profile event Giubileo della Luce hosted by ANCI. You can view the final product on this page, simply scroll down to see the outcome. That model was constructed from approximately 116 images captured by my DJI Spark drone, 63 shots taken with my G80 camera, and a whopping 516 full-HD screenshots extracted from a video clip. I conducted an in-depth analysis to create a massive model boasting around 20 million polygons. Next, I downsized the entire model to a more manageable 5 million polygons to improve navigation. Later on, I isolated the flat surfaces – roof and walls – to perform topology optimization, essentially smoothing out the surface to make it even flatter. This was made possible by leveraging a high-quality normal map that delivered plenty of detail without overdoing it. I deliberately chose not to illuminate this site within Sketchfab due to the original project's 28 carefully designed lights.
