MADLab Keyfob
thingiverse
A versatile keyfob designed for users who temporarily acquire the lab key, granting access to our state-of-the-art 3D printers. I began creating this design in Photoshop CS6 by crafting a visually appealing text layer. I then exported this file into Illustrator, allowing me to save it as an optimized svg file format. In 123D Design, I successfully imported the svg file and created a rectangular base that provides stability while also serving as a visual anchor for the rest of the design. Next, I created a stylized donut shape at one end of the keyfob, adding an eye-catching flourish to its overall aesthetic. To accurately represent the intended proportions, I employed the MakerBot software to scale down my design by 50%, achieving a more precise representation of how it would print in reality. Upon finalizing my settings, our trusty MakerBot Replicator 2 completed this impressive print in approximately one hour and twenty minutes, producing an incredibly detailed keyfob that meets even the most exacting standards.
