Mad Eye Moody 1.0 - Harry Potter
thingiverse
I crafted this prop to soothe my daughter's sorrow after discovering the tragic fate of Mad Eye Moody in the Harry Potter movie series. This prop is an incredibly quick and straightforward model to build, but I decided to take mine a step further. I added a small control board and tiny servo motor, which powers it with a rechargeable lithium battery. To make it even more captivating, I also incorporated a small light that makes the pupil glow when turned on. The small board I used features a Bluetooth chip embedded, allowing me to program the eye to automatically focus on and follow the strongest WiFi signal nearby. Building and finishing this prop was an absolute blast. To create the pupil, I opted for a more convenient solution. I visited my local hobby store and discovered that they sell doll eyes, which I found in blue and promptly installed. (I have an abundance of spare pupils in my workshop - I'd never written those exact words before!) The rest of the process was simply a matter of applying spray paint and buffing it to perfection. You'll need to add two small aluminum rods and either thread them as I did or secure them with glue. Finally, attach a leather strap, and you're done. Below is a link to a video showcasing my prop. https://photos.app.goo.gl/G0YYrjr7Nb1LOvve2 It's been an absolute joy making this prop!
