Mad Catz R.A.T.1 - FDM Friendly Starting Frame

Got myself the MadCatz R.A.T.1 primary after reading rave reviews about its customization potential via 3D printing. Upon unboxing and downloading new palm rest STL files, however, I soon realized that the design was optimized for more advanced printers, not FDM Printers. I spent an entire day attempting to replicate the basic frame, but it was a futile effort - those curved shapes are simply beyond FDM capabilities. Moving on, I devised Plan B: designing a new frame from scratch that can be easily printed. What a tedious process! Measuring, tracing and retrying the prints was exhausting, and those odd angles took their toll. After countless attempts, I finally got the dimensions right. Now I'm thrilled to share this simple starting point for your custom 3D printing designs. With it complete, the sky's the limit - or should I say, the print bed! Using the R.A.T cyborg 9 as a template, I'll be working towards designing my dream mouse: more substantial and robust. It's been an up-and-down journey so far, but with every obstacle comes an opportunity to push boundaries. Can't wait to see what kind of creative genius you folks come up with! As soon as my transparent Green pla arrives, you can bet I'll be printing away - hopefully, it'll turn out exactly how I envision it in my mind's eye. Cheers to happy printing and limitless creativity!
