Mad Catz R.A.T.1 - FDM Friendly Starting Frame

Got Myself a MadCatz R.A.T.1 Mouse and Figured Out How to Customize It with 3D Printing. I recently acquired the MadCatz R.A.T.1 mouse, primarily because of its customization potential through 3D printing. After downloading the new palm rests STL file, I quickly realized that this mouse was not designed for FDM printers. The basic frame included with the mouse is impossible to recreate using an FDM printer; I tried it and wasted a whole day on that attempt. Plan B was to create a new frame that could be easily printed. This turned out to be quite a challenge, with numerous odd angles and shapes that made measuring and tracing difficult. It took a significant amount of trial and error to get the design right. Here is a simple starting frame for custom 3D printing designs on the mouse. With this complete, I can now start designing a customized mouse for myself. I already have the Rat Cyborg 9, which I love due to its unique look and customization options. I'm taking that as a starting point for my R.A.T.1 design. One of my goals is to add weight to the mouse, as it's extremely light and I prefer a bit more heft. It was a bumpy first three days, but now I'm excited about what I can create with this mouse. I'll post the full custom design as a remix to this frame, which will likely be an improvement over my initial attempt. I've even ordered some transparent green PLA for the frame, hoping it will look as great in reality as it does in my imagination. Happy Printing.
