Macro Photography LED Ring Light with dimmer
thingiverse
This is a Macro Photography LED Ring Light that has a built-in variable brightness controller. I've been enjoying it for a while now, so I thought there might be some macro photographers out there who would like it too. It's based on a 12-volt led ring light, which you see fitted around some modern car headlights like the ones on Audis. It's inexpensive to build and produces great results! It also makes an excellent soft fill light for close-up beauty shots, giving a nice reflection in the models' eyes. It works perfectly for close-up foodie shots too! It fits from a 60mm up to an 85mm diameter macro lens. The battery life is under an hour, but if you don't leave it on when you're not using it, you can get a lot of use out of it... better still, use rechargeables. All the parts are available on eBay and other online retailers, with links in the post printing section below.
