I recently uploaded an updated version with indents and a raised pointer above the top, making it slightly larger than the smooth counterpart for easier sliding on the pin. While superglue is not necessary to secure it in place, I used it for stability. This replacement knob has an indicator line at the right spot, similar to the stock knobs, accurately showing the current volume level. Interestingly, my story of replacing a volume slider (linked above) inspired this project. For a video recording job, I acquired an old Mackie mixer that was missing both a slider and a volume knob. This redesigned knob allows for flawless printing once the outer walls are made slightly larger to prevent thin slicing issues. You can view it in action in the attached pictures, represented by the red knob. In my original design, the knob featured texture lines similar to the authentic version. However, I encountered difficulties during printing, leading me to believe that these lines were causing the issue. Now that I have achieved successful printing, I plan to retest the file with the texture back in place to verify its effectiveness. For a smooth finish, print the initial version at medium quality on Makerware with .2 mm layer height. This design does not require a raft or supports. However, high-quality printing may prevent marker bleeding onto other parts of the piece. The textured version prints well at high quality without any need for a raft or supports. Installing it on the mixer's rod may require slight adjustments due to its tight fit.
