We're thrilled to share with you one of the most incredible, awe-inspiring, and frequently visited archaeological sites on earth, recently chosen as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World & UNESCO World Heritage Site - the Incan Ruins of Machu Picchu. Located at an impressive elevation of 2,400 meters (7,900 feet) high in the rugged Andes mountains of Peru, near Cusco, this remarkable site has been remarkably preserved because it was not discovered until the early twentieth century. Built in the 1400s in classic Incan style with meticulously fitted together polished dry-stone walls, Machu Picchu is an engineering marvel (Wikipedia). Machu Picchu presented a formidable challenge to model, as we aimed to include not only the intricate citadel but also the surrounding landscape that makes it unmistakable. This model showcases the essence of Peru in our Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup Collection. We're excited to bring this captivating model to life!
