This is my remix of Thingiverse thing#4570022, which is itself a remix of some original work by Steve Haines. My respect and thanks for their foundational work.

Inspired by the remix work of NeuroDragn, I started again, from my own Gru Minions remix, using an updated (NOV-2020) version of the OpenScad Hairizer by magonegro.

I modified the Machos' teeth and hid the smiles that they “inherited” from the Gru models.

I changed the G's to M's

I captured or (repeated*) the “fixes” that I had applied to the Grus (*NOTE: I found some issues with model printability only after I “forked” the Gru models, so in some cases, I had to perform the same fixes to both the Gru and the Macho models.)

I added a One-Eyed PAWN

The same slicer and support recommendations listed for the Gru models also apply to this series.

In addition:

PLEASE NOTE: These Hair models assume a 0.2mm layer height*. Printing these models or the TestPiece with any other layer height, with a different initial layer height or with variable layer heights, will probably result in a print-failure of the Hair.

Be sure to block support under the hair!

Consider printing the test piece. Watch it print the hair to see whether your slicer settings and bed adhesion will work, before printing the whole thing.

If the hair fails to attach to the cylinder, it adds to the wild look of the character but it is not what should happen. If there are more than a few of these, verify that the layer height in your slicer is 0.2mm for the model and raft if used and that there are no special settings like Adaptive Layers overriding that.

[* Because the chess piece models are provided separately from their Hair in .3mf files, you can also generate a replacement Hair model (with the Hairizer) with any layer height your printer will support, and thereby use that alternative layer height to print your pieces.]

Post-Processing

You will need to cut away the Hairizer cylinder with a knife or razor, and “style” the hair of each piece to your taste using a hair dryer.

I recommend that you add weight and felt to the base of each piece, as described for the Gru set.

Enjoy!
