Photogrammetry techniques were employed in South Switzerland for the Alptransit project, specifically on the Gothard train tunnel side. The photogrammetric engine was utilized to excavate two tunnels between 2002 and 2011. The first tunnel, measuring 15 kilometers long, was constructed between Bodio and Faido from 2002 to 2006. The second tunnel, spanning 12 kilometers in length, was dug between Faido and Sedrun West from 2007 to 2011. The diameter of the tunnels is a consistent 9.43 meters.
