Machine Light Mount
thingiverse
I recently acquired a set of LED sewing machines work lights to illuminate my build platform, but they came with a magnetic mount that wouldn't stick well on my Lexan printer frame. Since I had previously used a simpler 'hanger' mount for them, but converted my printer first to a RAMPS setup and then to a dual Bowden setup, I needed a more permanent solution. These mounts attach in place using the original mounting holes for the display that came with the printer. As I no longer use that display, it doesn't matter that the button holes get covered. Additionally, I utilize the mounting holes to secure my cold ends on the backside of the cross piece. It would be a relatively simple task to modify them to allow access to the display and buttons if you are still utilizing the original control board. The lamps themselves simply push into the mounts and stay in place due to friction. They don't seem to want to work themselves out, but you could add a small drop of glue if you felt it was necessary. These are the lamps I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0177KS714/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I printed in PLA with 45 or 50 percent infill, but it could likely do with less. Print Settings: Printer: ANET A8 Rafts: No Supports: No Notes: I printed these in PLA. The main piece is 5mm thick, but it could be thinner. Post-Printing I utilized a finger drill to clean up the bolt holes, but for me, the lamp 'socket' required no cleanup. However, you may need to clean up the inside of the hole to fit your lamps correctly. How I Designed This: Designed in SketchUp.
