Machine Gun Bunker of Alhama de Murcia, Spain
sketchfab
The Machine Gun Bunker of Alhama de Murcia stands out as one of the most impressive examples of 20th century military architecture in the Region of Murcia. Built during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), possibly constructed in 1937, this strategic installation is a key component of the Ground Defense Plan of Cartagena's naval base. From a military perspective, its survival was crucial for the Republic. The bunker's design and construction are notable features, with the primary material being concrete - a rare and valuable resource during the war that was only allocated to high-priority military installations. Its two lateral entrances remain intact, offering a glimpse into the past. Inside, the bunker is divided into three distinct areas: two for mounting heavy machine guns and a third for storing supplies and ammunition, also serving as a refuge. This 3D model was created using 567 images captured by a DJI Phantom 4 Pro Plus drone. The images were carefully aligned, and the model was generated and textured in Reality Capture.
