Machine-cut Finishing Nail
sketchfab
A newly excavated, L-headed finishing nail, unearthed during the 2017 Eutaw Farm house dig in northeast Baltimore, Maryland, is a machine-cut marvel from a bygone era. Known colloquially as "Brads," these precision-made nails were specifically designed for trim work or flooring installation. Their distinctive heads are typically countersunk to create a smooth surface, then cleverly concealed with putty for a seamless finish. Nails like this one usually hit the manufacturing scene after 1810.
