A machine-cut finishing nail with an L-head recovered during the 2017 excavation of the Eutaw Farm house in northeast Baltimore, Maryland. Commonly referred to as “Brads” these machine-cut nail was used for trim or flooring. The heads were typically countersunk and then concealed with putty. Nails like this one were typically manufactured after 1810.
