Work in progress... 3d Printed Parts and Assembly Jigs for Mach 1 Rocketry's 76 mm Messier This is a fiberglass, high power rocket that is meant to fly on I - K impulse motors. I absolutely love the build, durability, and finished product of these rockets. However, this is not your basic "follow the instructions, find a field, and fly" rocket. To fly on these impulse motors, you need to pay careful attention to build quality and components used. Further, rockets like this really should use electronic deployment. This "thing" includes the following: - Jigs I designed to assist in assembly. - My universal mounting system to putting an Eggfinder GPS tracker in the nose cone. - 3d printed components and bill of material for an altimeter bay. While this was specifically design for the Mach 1 76 mm Messier, the altimeter bay should work in most 3" diameter rockets with a minimum 7" coupler tube. The GPS mount works in 38 mm fiberglass nose rockets and larger. You just need a different bulkhead. I swap mine between my 38 mm Alien Interceptor, 76 mm Messier, and soon the 98 mm Alien Interceptor. The drill templates and marking guides are really limited to the Messier as it's a 4 fin design. Jigs... 54 mm Tube Marking Guide - This is a simple ring. I place over the motor mount to draw marks to get the centering rings square to the motor mount. 76 mm Tube Marking Guide - This slips over the main body tube and payload tube. This includes: (a) Notches to align with the 4 fin slots, (b) Drill holes for drilling 4 mm to the side of the fin slots for injecting epoxy/CF for internal fillets, (c) drill guide for rail button holes exactly halfway between fin slots, and (d) drill guide exactly 120 deg spacings for shear pins and holes for attaching payload tube to coupler. Nose Drill Guide - This is a drill guide for drilling 4 holes for #8 set screws to hold the nose cone bulkhead/gps mount to the nose cone. 76mm tube 4 fin alignment tool - Pretty much what the name says. I use this to hold the fins in place, keep normal to the body tube axis. Nose Cone Printed Parts: NoseSleeve - An insert that is epoxied inside the fiberglass coupler of the nose. This allows room for set screws to hold the bulkhead to the nose. Nose Bulkhead - Replacement to the fiberglass bulkhead that comes with the kit. Eggfinder compact mount - My universal eggfinder/300 mAh battery mount. I move this from rocket-to-rocket. Altimeter Bay... To be continued.... Assembly Instructions and Bill of Material...
