MacBook Pro Vertical Stand
thingiverse
This vertical laptop stand is reminiscent of Sandbergs' "MacBook Aluminium Unibody Vertical Stand" (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:146107). An AI file is provided for those who wish to recreate it themselves. Inspired by a new desk setup, the author sought a simple stand for their laptop but found 3D printing time-consuming. Instead, they opted for laser cutting, reducing the process from one to three hours to just 20 minutes. The finished product dimensions are 80mm in height, 145mm in width, and 210mm in length, fitting a 2012 MacBook Pro Retina. Feedback is welcome on compatibility with other models or necessary design adjustments. A prototype revealed issues with wobbly rounded corners and insufficient height for larger laptops. The Trotec Speedy 300 Laser cutter settings were engraving at Power 20/Speed 100/PPI 500/Z-Axis 3mm and cutting at Power 100/Speed 10/PPI 1000/Z-Axis 3mm. The final version was made from Perspex, a type of polymethyl meth-acrylate.
