Macbook Air Stand, Geometric
thingiverse
Given the current state of Thingiverse, **Downloads broken, Thingview broken**, I recommend to visit the [thing on prusaPrinters](https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/87149-macbook-air-stand-v1) to check on it or download it. ___ From one of the sources I took the crossbar and having both sides of the stand in the same size, from the other source I took the smaller claw to hold the fine Macbook Air edge. The use case for this stand is to hold the laptop up on my chest while I lie in bed and avoid getting cramps in my hands trying to balance it manually. **Critique:** After a few days of using it I can say it works as expected. The laptop is held safely, the stand is stable, with even 2 crossbars it is sturdy. Still there are a few drawbacks: It is too large. Half of the construction has no functional role to play, at all. The laptop has a slight bend on it's lower surface and that means that only the lower part of the holder has contact to the laptop's body, the rest is just there (Z). And in the other dimension, let's call it Y, it is at least questionable whether all that material is needed for the function. Print time is a bit long, too. The construction is based on a triangle but only 2 sides of the triangle have a function. One side holds the laptop's back, the downside has to be plain so to rest on whatever surface the holder is on. But the back side has no potential function. The holder is not flexible. Sometimes I want the laptop in a steeper angle. I'm going to design a v2 of it along those ideas.
