Mac Mini Cooling Fan Base (2012, 2015, 2018)
thingiverse
I designed this base for my Mac mini after the fan connector broke off while swapping a hard disk, taking note of the following details:\r\n \r\n- This base is intended for use with a Noctua NF-P14s redux 900 140mm fan; other 140mm fans should also fit.\r\n- The mounting holes are sized to accommodate the Noctua anti-vibration mounts.\r\n- The fan cable (without connector) can be threaded through the 6mm hole on the backside.\r\n- To lift the Mac off the base, use an insulation strip with a width of 9mm and a thickness of 5.5mm; however, it needs to be trimmed down to 7mm to fit inside the base.\r\n\r\nBefore this mount was created, I had a self-made table with a hole for the fan and the Mac mini on top. Now my new 2018 Mac mini sits in its designated place (with the back cover removed), and the processor never exceeds 75 degrees Celsius in temperature.\r\nThe normal operating temperature is around 30 degrees Celsius.\r\n\r\nNote: The base design has been updated with air vents around it, eliminating the initial gap. This improvement enhances cooling by allowing air to flow through and around the Mac mini.
