The M8088 originated from the 2155 "Nano-Ghost" program, which marked the first aggressive deployment of nanomachines to boost human capabilities. A microscopic syringe hidden within the handle would inject a user with nanobots that would undergo a 24-hour adaptation period before rapidly multiplying. The bots would completely replace the nervous and circulatory systems, significantly enhancing reaction times, pain resistance, and oxygen intake. At advanced levels, the bots would optimize organ function, sharpen the senses, and even allow users to harden and control their skin. It was theoretically feasible for 100% of a user's cells to be replaced, transforming them into human-robot hybrids with complete mastery over their physical form. The blade itself could function as a blaster or sword depending on the situation, capable of delivering both fatal and non-fatal blows in either case.
