The M781 TP round is a low-velocity 40mm grenade utilized in training exercises for soldiers and Marines to practice firing the actual M433 HEDP projectile. Propelled by a .38 S&W blank cartridge with 340mg of M9 propellant, its muzzle velocity is 240-250 fps and maximum range is 400 meters. It's composed of a .38S&W blank, an M212 cartridge case, a zinc pusher (the projectile body), and a blue plastic windshield that either breaks or detaches upon impact, releasing a yellowish-orange signal dye to mark the point of impact.
