If you own a civilian model AR15 rifle, be aware that commercial and military bayonets won't fit properly on the flash hider. You can either purchase an adapter or try this alternative solution. To do so, install extended grip scales to compensate for the difference in length. The M7 bayonet tang requires modifications: remove the lug and extend the tang. To accomplish this, thread the end of the tang that inserts into the barrel lug and attach an extension using a screw. Then, weld it securely in place and grind it down to fit within the new scales. You'll need to acquire new screws and blind nuts as well as drill an additional screw hole in the tang. This process may seem excessive, but the outcome is well worth the effort. Keep in mind that this modification demands some trial-and-error adjustments regarding hole diameters and screw hole blind nuts. However, if you've made it this far, you're likely up to the challenge!
