M5 with Parallel Architecture
grabcad
M5 modified with Parallel Architecture and an inline-6 engine. Compared with the original model, the application of Parallel Architecture means that the engine is moved backwards, improving vehicle dynamics, and at the same time the driver´s position is moved forward, increasing cabin space and driver´s visibility. to make room for the longitudinal engine below the central dashboard, the windshield is also advanced, improving aerodynamics and cabin volume.Parallel Architecture is defined by the placement of the engine in parallel with the driver's legs, below the central dashboard area. In order to maintain the minimum width, the inline engine must be installed longitudinally in the vehicle, with all the engine auxiliaries mounted in series relative to the engine. The base of the windshield is moved forward, so that the dashboard has sufficient length to allow access to the top of the engine, in order to perform maintenance operations on the cylinder heads area, by opening an access chamber on the top of the central dashboard.
