M4A3E2 "Jumbo" Sherman Tank
thingiverse
This is the model M4A3E2 "Jumbo" Sherman, an enhanced version of the M4A3. The decals on the image are titled "Cobra King," which commanded the force that relieved Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. I adapted m_bergman's original M4A3 to include extra glacis and side armor, plus a reinforced turret and broader tracks.\nPrint Settings\nRafts: No Preference\n \n Supports: Unnecessary\n \n Resolution: Precise Setting of 0.1\n \n Infill: Optimized at 15%\n \n Notes: Printed hull without rafts or supports. Tracks can be printed with support, optional. Print turret with raft and support.\nPost-Printing Steps\nEliminate imperfections by gently sanding with specialized sticks. Assemble the pieces using cyanoacrylate adhesive glue.\nMy Design Approach\nI customized Bergman's M4A3 design within Blender. The 76mm turret, modified for greater thickness, served as the basis for the more substantial armor. Additionally, I replaced the longer-barreled 76 mm gun with a shorter-barreled 75 mm one.\nFor the hull, I designed separate armor plates and used Boolean operations to secure them onto the hull structure.\nTo mirror the look of actual tanks, I stretched and enlarged the tracks.\nUpon inspection after printing, I noticed minor issues with the tracks and turret; however, these appear minimal compared to the outstanding results from m_bergman's 1-100 models – their print quality looks exceptional.
