Amphibious warriors, known as DD or Duplex Drive tanks, earned the nickname "Donald Duck tanks" due to their unique ability to swim through water.[1] Developed by the British during World War II, these versatile vehicles were a type of amphibious tank that could traverse both land and sea. The term is most commonly associated with the Duplex Drive variant of the M4 Sherman medium tank, which played a pivotal role for the Western Allies in June 1944's Normandy Landings.
