M4 Allen (Hex/Inbus) Socket Thumb Screw Knob Cap
thingiverse
This is a knob cap designed to fit snugly onto M4 Allen (also known as Hex or Inbus) socket cap screws and transform them into sturdy knurled thumbscrews. The internal hexagonal driver inside the knob turns the screw just like your trusty Allen wrench would, while the knurled surface of the larger knob provides a secure grip for your fingers. This design works remarkably well, but keep in mind that you're working with 3D-printed plastic. Don't expect incredible results and avoid using excessive force when tightening the screws. I created this part specifically for my Goodman ZONE 3D-printed camera, which uses four M4x20 Allen socket cap screws to secure the lens. Mounting a different lens requires a 3mm Allen wrench to remove the screws, but with these caps in place, you can easily switch lenses on-the-go without needing an Allen wrench. I strictly adhered to the DIN 912 M4 standard: 7mm head diameter, 4mm head height, and 3mm hexagonal driver. The knob is precisely 0.5mm shorter than the head, ensuring it won't damage the surface of any object you screw into.
