M3 utility hook

M3 utility hook

I needed hooks to hang tools in my wooden garden shed. I felt lazy to buy some so I thought why not create some and 3D print them? But I was afraid it would not stand the weight of my tools and that whatever the design it would break way too soon. So I thought I should use some metal in my design. And then I realized I had a whole bunch of M3 hex head screws in my drawers! And this is it: a 3D printed hook with a steel rod made of M3 hex head screws. The M3 screw comes out of the plastic part at a 15° angle which seems right to me. You simply attach the hook to a panel with a small standard wood screw. Since there are many sizes of M3 screws, you can choose the depth of the hook since it only depends on the length of the screw. I used up to M3x25 lengths. The "crest" version features a little flange on the top of the plastic part that can hold a suspended object or tool attached to a string.
