The M242 Bushmaster serves as a powerful 25 mm single-barrel chain-driven autocannon employed extensively across various branches of the U.S. military, NATO forces, and select other nations in land-based combat vehicles like the Bradley fighting vehicle, alongside its versatility for deployment on various watercraft platforms. Conceived and produced initially by Hughes Helicopters based out of Culver City, California, the company eventually changed hands following a 1985 acquisition by McDonnell Douglas Helicopters before integrating into Boeing Corporation in 1997.
