M2 Single Extruder for M2 and E3D
thingiverse
This is my latest extruder design tailored specifically for my M2 and incorporating the E3D V6 hotend. My aim was to make use of the continuous PTFE tube running from the drive gear to the E3D's hot zone, with the hope that it would improve printing capabilities when dealing with flexible filament. I deliberately chose not to attach the E3D from underneath and instead designed this split arrangement which has its benefits. Specifically: The hotend remains securely attached relative to the gantry and doesn't shift or rotate; it becomes easier to feed and remove filament as needed; the support for the direct drive mechanism is maximized, and in case of a jam, clearing the issue is hassle-free. As I see it now, the main drawback of this design lies within its tensioning system - it's still a work in progress. At present, it does work but achieving just the right amount of tightness requires some intuitive feel and there's always room for improvement with each iteration.
