The M18 Colored Smoke Grenade is a US Army grenade that serves as a ground-to-ground or air signaling device, marks targets or landing zones, or creates a screen for unit maneuvering. This versatile device has undergone numerous updates since its introduction during World War II in 1943 when it became standard issue. The M18 was designed to replace the M16, which was already produced in multiple colors, but it limited itself to only four: red, yellow, green and violet. However, during the Vietnam War, a toxic mixture in the violet variant led to its removal from inventory after the Cold War ended in the 1990s. In Southeast Asia, it was discovered that green smoke repelled swarming bees! A modular fuse box allowed this model to enhance baking and texturing skills temporarily.
