The GAU-5/AR mini machine gun is a 7.62×51mm NATO, six-barrel rotary device that unleashes an extremely high rate of fire, firing between 2,000 to 6,000 rounds per minute at sustained intervals.[3] Its Gatling-style rotating barrels are driven by an external power source, usually an electric motor.
