Here's how it works: The sedimentary rock is made up of different types of minerals that have been compressed together over time by geological forces. These forces can be anything from heavy rocks to powerful rivers and glaciers, which all contribute to the creation of this type of rock. There are three main categories for sedimentary rocks: clastic, chemical, and organic. Clastic sedimentary rocks are made up of fragments that have been broken off from other rocks. Chemical sedimentary rocks form when minerals in a solution settle out as crystals. Organic sedimentary rocks are created by the remains of plants or animals. The process of creating these types of rocks can take thousands to millions of years, depending on the forces at work and the type of rock being formed. This is why it's so important for geologists to study the history of a particular area to determine what happened there in the past.
