The CITiZAN southwest team joined forces with the Nautical Archaeology Society and a dedicated group of volunteers to meticulously record the remnants of this wooden minesweeper from World War II. Thanks to Stuart Fitt's tireless efforts, we successfully merged aerial photographs with ground shots to create an accurate model of the vessel. Currently abandoned on the Gosport foreshore, the ship was originally constructed in 1940 as a purpose-built minesweeper for the war effort. Historic images believed to have been taken in the 1970s still display the hull number - 113, but it has since disappeared, leaving behind only the lower hull of the vessel. In addition to documenting the site's history, the team has also been creating a detailed site plan using offset survey techniques, which will be published soon.
