Fragment of a pot produced by experimental archaeologist Caroline Jeffra using the wheel-coiling method 1, as defined by Roux and Courty in their 1998 study, is shown below. View our blog post about wheel coiling here to learn more. A forming video demonstrating this technique is available on YouTube for your viewing pleasure. Metadata: This 3D model was scanned with a DAVID SLS-3 (HP Scan Pro) structured light scanner, utilizing 17 separate scans. The native file size is a massive 205MB, with a resolution of 0.0148mm. To reduce the file size, decimation was applied using a Quadric-based Edge Collapse Strategy, resulting in a reduction from 4,258,194 to 600,034 vertices (an OBJ file of 180MB). The texture was obtained using the industrial webcam of the DAVID scanner.
