@drewlachlan has an innovative concept, and I've enhanced it to eliminate the need for tape altogether. By merging the design for both the sensor and magnet, users will only require two printed pieces for installation. My initial testing on a 2x4 in the shop indicates this setup will work exceptionally well. The printed part features two square holes to facilitate easy removal. I'm planning my first installation on French doors, with one half mounted on each door, ensuring that either open door triggers the sensor. For exterior doors, I anticipate the parts will absorb some heat, but I haven't rigorously tested their resilience yet. However, there's limited room for warping, making it unlikely to cause sticking or render the piece unusable. When selecting a material, keep in mind that PLA loses its shape when exposed to high temperatures, similar to sitting in a hot car. To achieve optimal results, I printed on a Prusa with 0.2 layer height and 20% infill using transparent clear PLA.
