Zurab Tsereteli, born in 1934, is the mastermind behind this elegant sculpture. As a renowned Georgian-Russian painter, architect, and sculptor, he has earned both admiration and ridicule for his grandiose monuments, particularly "Peter the Great" in Moscow. Since 1997, he has held the esteemed position of President at the Russian Academy of Arts, where he is often regarded as a provocative artist. This sculpture showcases simplicity, depicting a slender woman dancing en pointe in Soviet ballerina and choreographer Maya Plisetskaya's likeness. The bronze form masterfully displays an array of intricate textures. In 2016, Viktor Mitroshin crafted a nine-meter tall bronze monument for Maya Plisetskaya in Moscow, likely drawing inspiration from Tsereteli's iconic work.
