M-boat German minesweeper (1916 model)
thingiverse
This is a 1/300 scale model of a WWI German mine-sweeper, an M-boat. It's intended for wargaming purposes, so precise scale details are not guaranteed, but it's based on scans of original German navy blueprints found online. I suggest a partially speculative armament featuring shielded 88mm guns fore and aft, a 37mm semi-automatic flak gun on the "bandstand," slightly aft of amidships, and several 20mm flak guns around the bridge and superstructure. I began this model by accident, intending to build a WWII M-boat. It was nearly complete before I discovered my mistake. Fortunately, many of these ships remained in use with the German Kriegsmarine during WWII as minesweepers, fleet tenders or voorpostenboots, making it still suitable for world war 2 naval wargaming. The dimensions, performance, and armament are similar to later WWII M-boat designs, at least on paper. In fact, the 1940 coal-burning M-boat design was directly derived from this vessel. A 1943 M-boat is currently under construction to rectify my initial error.
