The German military introduced the Model 39 Eihandgranate, also known as the Eierhandgranate or "egg hand grenade," in 1939 and continued production until the end of World War II. This hand grenade utilized a standard fuse assembly called the BZE 39, which was screwed into its sheet-metal body from the top. To use the Eihandgranate effectively, users would first unscrew the domed cap on top, then quickly pull the coiled cord inside before throwing it at the target.
