M-300 Claymore Replica (Mass Effect)
thingiverse
A meticulously crafted 1:1 scale replica of the M-300 Claymore from Mass Effect games measures approximately 470 mm in length or 1.5 ft. The model was designed using Google Sketchup, referencing multiple images online. A friend requested this item for his upcoming convention costume, and it took about a week and a half to complete. The Claymore, featured in Mass Effect 3, was a problematic shotgun due to kickback issues that could injure the user. The 3D model is divided into numerous components, suitable for printing within an 8x8x8-inch build envelope. However, some creative liberties were taken with details like screw heads and lettering sizes. Printing this model requires about 2 kgs of plastic on low infill settings and approximately four days. A functional trigger design was attempted but may not be ideal. Safety precautions are necessary as the replica resembles a gun; painting the barrel orange helps identify it as fake. The model was temporarily removed from Thingiverse due to policy concerns, but was later reinstated after clarification.
