The An Bằng Cemetery is located approximately 300 meters from the beach and lies on National Highway 49B along the road from Huế to Đà Nẵng. The cemetery is in the Vinh An ward, Phú Vang district, Thừa Thiên Huế province. It is situated on a narrow strip of land separating the East Sea and the Tam Giang - Cầu Hai estuary system, covering an area of approximately 250 hectares or 2.5 square kilometers. This is roughly seven times the size of Disneyland. An Bằng Village was once a poor fishing village where locals mainly relied on catching seafood near the shore for their livelihood. The villagers' living conditions remained underdeveloped due to this limited economic source. However, in the early 1990s when the Vietnamese government allowed overseas Vietnamese citizens to send remittances to their family members back home, the village underwent significant changes. More than 90 percent of the village residents have relatives abroad, mostly in the United States.
