Two magnificent lions stand guard in front of Gobelsburg Castle, their majesty unmistakable. Originally, these regal creatures were part of a larger installation on the Aspern Bridge in Vienna, which was unfortunately demolished due to its narrow width and increasing traffic congestion. The bridge had been decorated with beautiful allegorical figures and lions created by the talented artist Franz Melnitzky. Today, two more of these stunning lions can be admired in the charming city of Horn, while their counterparts remain proudly situated in front of Gobelsburg Castle.
