Ancient Roman craftsmen created a complete roman lantern, made from kaolin-rich clay, for lighting in ancient Roman times. This exquisite lantern was produced in the Quinta do Rouxinol's Roman pottery workshop (located in Seixal) between the latter half of the 4th century and the early part of the 5th century. The lantern boasts an elongated, elliptical shape and a sealed fuel reservoir.
