ADLAKE INDICATOR LAMP Description Metal and Glass Adlake No Sweating Lamp. Object Description: Structure of metal with handle, oil paint, black color. Bullseye lens, 13 cm diameter, white. Circular lens in opposite site, 5 cm diameter, transparent. It has a sliding panel providing access to the burner and a rain shield with an embossed relief: 'THE ADLAKE NO SWEATING LAMP, LAMP MFG 7 RLY SUPPLIES TO LONDON' History and Use Adlake is a shortened name of the company "Adams and Westlake". This lamp or indicator was placed in the last car of a train, on the caboose, or well to the side of the light post, at front, indicated different orders to control traffic over the track of trains that circulated. Inside it contains a thin strip lighter with rotary lever to regulate the flame and project the light through the glass screens.
