The vacuum sealer was a labor of love that freed up valuable space on my workbench, where it now proudly takes its place alongside other useful gadgets. It worked so well I knew the wife had to have one just like it. Her kitchen is designed around elegant oak cabinets, and she needed her unit to match seamlessly. This sleek device requires about 1 kg of filament for printing - good news for those who produce their own extrusions, as this one did for a mere $3.00 in ABS pellets. But if you want warp control, opt for PLA instead. To replicate my DIY masterpiece, look for an old vacuum sealer on eBay; I used the FoodSaver Mini Model V240. For your convenience, check out the test video uploaded to YouTube - QKdkHOLEmTM is its code. I've recently added STL files for optional front and door panels to this kit, plus a revised construction manual detailing the entire assembly process. To assemble this beautiful sealer from scratch, simply download my comprehensive construction guide consisting of 24 vivid photos documenting each step of creation. Within that same zip file are the required STL files; however please be aware that five of these files will contain 'split' references - those indicating that the item needs to be printed on both sides, a requirement necessitated by the Makerbot Replicate's constraints. In a more recent update I've included detailed instructions for incorporating the brand-new optional front and door panels along with the revised guide so that users may better enjoy this magnificent creation.
