Hugh Lyman created his device from bought plastic. I built mine using printed materials, which functions exceptionally well. I fabricated it in ABS at 100% infill and retrieved approximately twelve 32 caliber muzzle loader balls. Afterward, I pounded each one flat with a hammer until they fit snugly within this device's inner diameter. Upon completion, I sealed the unit by covering it with a thick layer of epoxy to keep the spheres securely in place.
