Lying Figures are menacing human-like creatures in Silent Hill 2. They lurk in the shadows, waiting to pounce on unsuspecting victims. James Sunderland first encounters a Lying Figure after following trails of blood through Silent Hill. He confronts it in a closed tunnel where it is seen feeding on a corpse. Lying Figures also appear in the Born from a Wish scenario, tormenting Maria with their presence. They are depicted as monstrous creatures that feed on human flesh. In addition to their appearances in Silent Hill 2 and the Born from a Wish scenario, Lying Figures can be found on an alternate cover of Sinner's Reward, Issue 4, and in the short film Fukuro. It is worth noting that the Lying Figure should not be confused with the Straightjacket in Silent Hill: Origins. While they share many similarities, the Straightjacket has some significant differences. An incarnation of the Lying Figure monster appears in the Silent Hill film, credited as the Armless Man. This version of the Armless Man is likely a representation of Alessa Gillespie's hospitalization.
