Lycoming flywheel timing 36-1 EDIS
thingiverse
This design was created specifically for a VAF post about how to build an internal 36-1 EDIS ring gear. Its primary purpose is to provide precise timing for electronic engine management systems. Additionally, it's designed to fit seamlessly inside the Lycoming aircraft flywheel. The ideal material for making this design should be any ferrous metal, excluding aluminum and plastic, with most steels working perfectly. The six attachment holes are intentionally undersized so that the CNC'd ring can serve as a drill jig for the flywheel if it hasn't been pre-drilled or tapped (using an 8-32 tap). This project is strictly "do-it-yourself," and individuals should proceed at their own risk.
