Lutefisk Class Cruiser
sketchfab
The Lutefisk Class light cruiser was designed specifically for a warship design contest that required me to create a class of light cruisers with a maximum tonnage of 16,000 tonnes for any nation I chose. I selected Norway as my target nation in 1914 because its navy at the time was essentially a blank slate. This made it an ideal choice should World War I break out and drag Norway into the conflict. My goal was to design a class of four multi-role cruisers with a maximum weight of 4,000 tonnes each. These ships would need to possess enough firepower and armor to compete effectively against other light cruisers while also carrying mines that could make life hazardous for battleships and other warships. The mines would be laid in advance at a port or strategic choke point, adding an extra layer of complexity to the battlefield. Despite being limited to 25 knots, the ship's stability was prioritized to ensure safe navigation through arctic waters.
