This design is intended to mount on the door hinge bracket and requires no modification to the yacht structure. Minor modifications to the hinge components are required to accomodate the larger diameter hinge pin which is required to withstand the mechanical loads that are introduced. Placement of the device is to be arranged such that one unit dampens the door swing in one direction and an inverted placement dampens the door swing in the opposite direction. Exposed components are all stainless steel with the exception of the bushings. The internal piston may be a carbon steel or other suitable material to prevent galling from the cam action. The portability and ease of installation of this device can easily be retro-fitted to existing wind breaker type doors.
