Door Dampening Mechanism Utilises a centrifugal clutch to retard speed Clutch has 3 segments each with a separate spring rating to provide progressive braking for increasing speed Clutch springs to be tuned to provide zero resistance whilst door is opened at normal personnel passage speed Gearing to increase clutch centrifugal force Simple construction utilizing commercially available centrifugal clutch - as employed on a chainsaw for example - replace standard springs as necessary During normal operation the clutch would not engage thus there would be minimal wear on components Grade 316 Stainless steel construction Sealed bearings O Ring seals on shafts To prevent water ingress Gear drive arm may be mechanically fixed to glass door panel as shown or UV bonded for a minimalistic finish Flush mounted face plate and panel clamp - polished or brushed for aesthetic appeal Allows bi-directional passage through the door with the brake operating in both directions. Mechanism can be retro fitted into ceiling Easy to remove for maintenance and/or adjustment Floor plate without clutch provides un-braked hinge pivot Mounting plate is extended along door line to resist torque of braking effect TO ADD 1) Electro magnetic selector to de-couple the gear mesh in the event of alarm condition - to permit rapid egress in the event of an emergency - Similar principle to a fire gas shut off valve which is maintained open by a low voltage electro magnet which releases on loss of signal from the FCP 2) Fixings & seals
