Lurgan Farm 5 - Cup & Ring Marked Rock
sketchfab
Lurgan Farm 5 is a scattered outcropping amidst numerous rock art panels deeply hidden within a dense forest near Aberfeldy. These enigmatic markings cover the entire series of panels, featuring diverse and intricate designs. Specifically: - Three crudely carved cup and ring marks stand out, each unique in its own way: one features two rings, while the other boasts only one. Notably, their cups and rings are unevenly proportioned. - Approximately 14 individual cup marks measuring between 4-6 cm in diameter are scattered randomly across small groupings throughout the panels. - Two oval depressions, each approximately 10 x 6 cm in size, add to the visual complexity of the site. - Adjacent to one of the cup and ring marks, two larger circular depressions feature carved gutters leading downslope from their centers. - The bottom right panel (Southwest) is dominated by about 60 microcups measuring less than 1 cm each, gradually giving way to peck marks. A rough regularity exists in the spacing and alignment of these marks, including two possible rosette arrangements surrounding a few slightly larger cup marks. - The adjacent panel showcases additional peck marks, with seven clearly exhibiting a curved alignment.
